A lottery win worth Rs 1 crore turned sour for a British couple, Lee Davies and his fiancé Carryann Copestick. As per an earlier report published in The Daily Star, they purchased the lottery ticket in September 2017 and found a few days later that they had won the prize. Lee had told the portal that it was one of the happiest moments of their lives and they had planned to purchase a house. They were also looking forward to getting married and spent some of that money on branded clothes and jewellery. The situation, however, took an unfortunate turn when burglars barged into their house the very next day. They were armed with knives and rods and demanded from them the money won from the lottery. One of the burglars, who was carrying a knife went to Carryann and threatened her to reveal the location of the cash and other items. She did as asked and the robbers left the house with the proceeds of the loot. The thieves dressed in black clothes.
Lee said that after the thieves had left, he immediately called the police to inform them about this incident. He and his wife had a sigh of relief that the robbers didn’t inflict any harm on the children. As per Lee, the culprits took with them a necklace worth Rs 4 lakh, gold and bracelets worth Rs 11 lakh. Lee and his wife were extremely scared after this incident and didn’t even reveal this to their friends. They, however, are comforted in the fact that the miscreants were successful in robbing them of the gold and three iPhones, but not the cash.
Lee feels that the robbers might be the people known to them because they knew about their lottery win. He said that they also tried to rob the birthday presents of his daughter. Narrating the horrific details of that day, Lee had said that the robbers were hitting them constantly with a sharp object and asking him to keep quiet. His fiancee was scared that they could also cause grave injuries to her. Lee concluded by saying that they were under stress for two weeks.
