On the occasion of Mother’s Day, social media was flooded with heart-touching posts in which people expressed their gratitude and love for their mother or other maternal figures in their lives. Former US President Barack Obama also shared a special Mother’s Day post for his wife Michelle Obama. Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have been married for 32 years. They have two daughters, Malia and Sasha.

In his Mother’s Day post, Barack Obama shared a beautiful picture of his wife and wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day to Michelle Obama and all the moms out there! Michelle, thank you for all that you do for our girls. Today and every day, we celebrate you. And a big thank you to all the mothers and mother figures out there who provide us love, inspiration and support, often in the face of remarkable odds.”

The post got over 1 lakh likes in less than a day. Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day to our forever FLOTUS, Michelle Obama.”

Another person mentioned, “Michelle is amazing! I love how much respect you show your wife and all women everywhere. The country needs you! I’m staying positive on social media. I wish more ppl would too. Thanks, President Obama for all your strength and love.”

Michelle Obama also dedicated a special Instagram post to her mother Marian Shields Robinson. The former US first lady wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! My mom has always been my rock and I’m so grateful for all the ways she continues to show up for my family. She’s taught me so much over the years, and I feel so lucky that I get to pass that same wisdom down to my own girls. To all the moms celebrating today, I hope you know how much you’re appreciated.”

Michelle Obama has often spoken about how her parents, who dropped out of college, raised her and her brother Craig Robinson in the best way possible, despite having financial precarity. In 2022, she told Chicago’s ABC 7, “We were poor. We lived in a small house, but what they gave us was a feeling of importance, a belief that our voices mattered at a very young age, a sense of understanding, of pushing through resilience.”
