Blake Lively has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to fans for their love and support for the film It Ends With Us and its message. The film, adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, saw a remarkable $50 million (approx. Rs 344 crore) opening weekend at the domestic box office. In the film, Blake Lively plays Lily Bloom, who is struggling and navigating through a troubled relationship before choosing to break free. Now, Blake Lively, who is also one of the producers of the film, wrote a thank you note for her fans on Instagram Stories. She wrote, “Thank you to everyone who came out to show that people WANT to see films about women and the multitudes we hold.”
“It Ends With Us is a story about the female experience, capturing both the highest highs and the lowest lows. We are incredibly proud of it and thrilled to share such an important message with a broad audience,” she continued.
Blake Lively also expressed her appreciation for the way fans have received the film, saying, “Thank you all for embracing It Ends With Us with the same love, pain, and joy we had in sharing it with you.”
In her post, Blake Lively has also included a video clip from the London premiere where she discussed the film’s themes. “The movie deals with domestic violence, but what’s crucial is that the character is more than just a survivor or a victim. Those are significant aspects, but they don’t define her,” Lively explained in the August 8 BBC interview. “She defines herself, not by what others have done to her or by the events she’s endured, but by her own identity.”
Blake Lively also shared important resources for domestic violence survivors. She highlighted a CDC statistic showing that 1 in 4 adult women have experienced physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetimes. She wrote, “Intimate partner violence affects all genders, with over 12 million people impacted annually in the U.S.”
She urged, “Everyone deserves relationships free from domestic violence. The National Domestic Violence Hotline offers confidential support 24/7/365,” providing a link to the hotline and adding, “For immediate help, text ‘START’ to 88788.”
It Ends With Us was released in theatres on August 9. It was directed by Justin Baldoni. Ryle Kincaid, Brandon Sklenar, and Jenny Slate are seen in key roles.
