Viral News: Bengaluru man accuses Rapido for 'no help' after claiming that his auto-rickshaw driver didn't let him down due to payment issues.

In a chilling tale from Bengaluru, an accusation has surfaced against a Rapido auto-rickshaw driver, suggesting he held a passenger ‘captive’. The passenger, frustrated by Rapido’s lack of responsiveness, took to the social media platform ‘X’ to rally for action. “I was held hostage by @rapidobikeapp rider for hours and they had no security feature to help me,” recounted Omang Agarwal, frustration evident in his words, as he shared a screenshot detailing his futile attempts to reach Rapido Support.

The screenshot depicted the automated conversation initiation, followed by Agarwal’s repeated appeals of “Please call me” falling on deaf ears. With intervals of 5-10 minutes, Agarwal described the harrowing experience of being confined to the back of the auto-rickshaw by the driver, refusing to allow him to disembark. “I have a foot fracture and lung infection. I have been held locked in the auto for 1+ hour now,” his final message to them conveyed.

Reflecting on the incident and Rapido’s sluggish response, Agarwal revealed in his post, “He had an issue with the UPI payment. I’ve a breathing issue and broken leg, I couldn’t escape. Their app has no SOS if the ride has ended. Only escaped when I dialed 100.”

With a scathing critique of Rapido’s service record, Agarwal highlighted previous instances of driver misconduct, slamming the company’s lack of preventive measures. “@rapidobikeapp will introduce the most shameful SOS parameters just to do the bare minimum but not help meaningfully. I don’t buy that you don’t have the unit economics to help passengers with safety measures. Shameful,” he concluded, punctuating his frustration.

The post swiftly gained traction, drawing a flurry of comments and reactions. In one of the comments, Agarwal revealed that he made a payment through Google Pay but the driver didn’t receive it immediately due to some credential issues. In his words, “He just found that out, was angry and blaming me for creating fake account.”
