A woman recently criticised the Bengaluru Police for allegedly harassing her boyfriend when the couple was out on a night walk. She shared her experience through a Reddit post, which has attracted many reactions from social media buffs. According to the woman, she and her boyfriend were walking hand-in-hand at around 10 PM when a police officer stopped them in the middle of a road. The cop confronted the young couple for “behaving inappropriately” in a public place.
The officer allegedly threatened them about informing their parents. The couple was initially asked to visit the nearby police station. The cop, however, later freed the woman. She further claimed that the constable did not let her boyfriend go with her and kept on targetting him without any reason.

“He started threatening us. He asked us to go to the police station with him. In spite of pleading with him, because he told us he would involve our parents and stuff, he didn’t let us go. Finally, he let me go because I was a girl and it was almost 10 pm. He held onto my boyfriend. The police asked me to walk away and go home,” the woman revealed in her Reddit post.
It, however, was not the end of the story. The woman had left the scene and was on her way back home. She was only 30 metres away from the police when a random guy came there in a two-wheeler and hurled some unpleasant remarks, targeting her. The woman claimed that the incident happened in front of the cop but he paid no attention to it.
“I was walking home and suddenly just 30m away from the police a random guy comes in his two-wheeler and tells me “Hello Darling”. The worst part is, the police didn’t do anything about this. But they created a whole scene for me holding my boyfriend’s hand,” she added.
The woman further revealed that the police officer allegedly took a bribe from her boyfriend before letting him go. She wrote on Reddit, “Hypocrisy! Teasing a woman is fine but a woman holding her boyfriend’s hand with her consent is NOT OKAY! Later they took money from my boyfriend and let him go.”
The post has received more than 3,000 upvotes on Reddit. A user suggested that the woman should share the same thing on X (formerly Twitter) and tag the commissioner of the Bengaluru Police.
Another user could relate to the experience and commented, “Really sad you had to go through this. The same thing happened to me and my wife when we were walking back to our own apartment from a friend’s place 500 mts away.”
A person wrote, “You holding hands with your BF at 10 PM is not the problem. He wanted money and targeted your BF since he knew you would spare some money rather than being confronted by parents.” “Indian police corruption is on the next level,” acknowledged an individual.
