A recent college graduate, Camryn Herriage, is currently in the hospital, fighting for her life after a tragic incident involving a drunk driver. On February 11 in Dallas, US, Camryn and her friends were waiting at a red light when an extremely drunk woman crashed into their car. The impact led to a chain reaction, as it damaged several other cars. Immediately after the incident, the 23-year-old, along with four friends, were rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, her roommate, Sara House, lost her life in the crash. A recent graduate of Texas Tech University, Camryn remains on a ventilator, fighting for her life. The police reported that the driver, driving a Ford pickup truck, fled the scene on foot.
Meanwhile, Camryn’s older sister, Casie Campanello, has strongly criticised the female driver for the reckless incident. In a conversation with Fox 4 News, she said, “Literally, a careless act. Put us in a situation that changed all of our lives. We are very helpless and just stay strong for her, but it’s very difficult to see."
According to a legal document acquired by the portal, people called emergency services and reported the situation. They mentioned that a lady who came out of the driver’s side, wearing a short black dress and white clubbing shoes, was very drunk. The woman, later identified as 27-year-old Carmen Guerrero, was arrested last week, around 11 days after the accident. During the investigation, officials found her wallet in the truck, which was left behind.
Casie Campanello, who has been by her sister’s side in the hospital, shared that her focus is solely on her little sister and her future, not on the investigation. She said, “When she came out of her first surgery, the surgeon told us he told us he never saw anyone make it to the hospital with her injury. So she has a purpose."
Carmen Guerrero is dealing with serious charges, including manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. As per reports, she was found driving the vehicle at 70 mph in an area where the speed limit is 35 mph. Currently, she is in custody at the Dallas County jail.
As per the GoFundMe organised by Camryn Herriage’s best friend, the crash caused her severe injuries, including a torn aorta, a broken C1, brain swelling, bleeding and over 20 breaks throughout her body.
