The tranquil and wonderful pictures from PM Modi’s trip have definitely ignited the wish to add Lakshadweep to everybody’s travel bucket list for the year. So, if you are planning to visit the archipelago as well, here are 5 places that you must visit-
- Minicoy IslandMinicoy Island is the southernmost atoll and features stunning crystal-clear lagoons along with coral reefs and the most iconic lighthouse that is incredibly picture-postcard-worthy. Also known as Miliku the island features several white-sand beaches.
- Kadmat Island If you are an ardent foodie then this is the island you should be visiting for sure. With fishing as the main source of income on this island, one is bound to chance upon several beach-side shacks that serve delicious food. Not only is this the perfect place for a quaint little getaway, but it also provides snorkelling and deep-sea diving activity opportunities to satiate the adventurous side of you.
- Kavaratti IslandDefinitely known for its wonderfully pristine beaches the one other thing that everybody must enjoy apart from the beaches on this particular island is the sight of the mosques. Capital of Lakshwadeep, Kavaratti is a location of several mosques that are each an architectural marvel such as the Ujra Mosque.
- Pitti Bird SanctuaryIf you are staying on the Kalpeni island then do not miss out on taking a quick little boat ride to the Pitti Bird Sanctuary. This place is almost in the middle of nowhere and thus plays great host to varied kinds of birds and if you are lucky you will be able to spot a great deal of marine life from here.
- Thinnakara IslandThis island is synonymous with the words tranquillity and peace. The beauty of this less-visited island is truly unmatched and can definitely be a sight to behold. Thinnakara also offers a wide range of water sports and activities to keep tourists occupied but it is the serenity of the place that is truly unmissable.
