Uber has introduced two new features that address the needs of users who do not have the cab-hailing app installed on their devices.
The company now allows one to request a cab without having a dedicated app with the new feature called 'Dial an Uber'. This feature is especially aimed at non-metro cities where users have to often battle poor connectivity and penetration of technology.
All that a user needs to do is log in to dial.uber.com, enter their phone number to sign-up and request a cab. This service is currently being rolled out in Nagpur, Kochi, Guwahati, and Jodhpur.
The second new feature addresses the need of booking rides on behalf of your friends or family members. With the 'Request a Ride for Others' allows one to set a pin or manually enter the pickup location for the person the cab is being requested for.
One can then choose from a list of recent contacts or enter a new number. Upon confirmation, the requester can further choose either to have the rider pay in cash or pay for them electronically.
Once the request is made, confirmation message along with ride details will be sent to the rider. It will also include a link for the ride to track the trip while the one who has requested the cab will also be able to track through their app.
