Samsung seems to be in trouble again, with regard to faking photos being used to advertise their smartphones. According to DIY Photography, the photo, which is being represented to showcase the upcoming Galaxy A8 Star smartphone's bokeh camera mode was captured by a DSLR camera. And just in case you are wondering who has stated this, its none other than the person in the photo itself. The photographer, Dunja Djudjic, who shot the photo of herself, found out about this when she was notified that her photo was sold on Getty via EyeEm and immediately did a reverse photo search. Djudjic contacted EyeEm in an attempt to confirm whether Samsung purchased the image, but the company hadn't yet received the sales data and was unable to confirm the buyer.
Djudjic attempted to contact Samsung Malaysia and Samsung Global, but was unable to get a response about the image's use. However, on the Samsung’s Galaxy A8 Star product page, there isn’t any mention about the image is captured using a Galaxy A8 Star’s camera or it was being used as a representative image.
To recall, Chinese smartphone maker Huawei was left embarrassed when an actress from one of its commercials showcasing new Nova 3 smartphone posted behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, revealing a DSLR camera being used to take selfies and not the smartphone. A Reddit user that goes by the name of AbdullahSab3 discovered that Sarah Elshamy, one of the actors in the ad, posted photos on her Instagram page, and one image revealed a photographer shooting the "at-home selfie with a DSLR".
