OnePlus is going to continue with its early year momentum with multiple launches expected next month. The company has announced the OnePlus 12 series this month for India, and in February we could see the brand enter the wearable category once again. OnePlus Watch 2 could be part of the company’s Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024) lineup in Barcelona next month.
It could also be the first OnePlus watch to use the WearOS platform, which suggests the first-gen OS will not be continued anymore. Going to WearOS allows OnePlus to focus on the hardware and give it the right push to make it an appealing option for buyers.
The details from a tipster about this launch is interesting because MWC is a platform where we mostly see phone launches, so to have a smartwatch announced will definitely bring its own interest.
The first OnePlus Watch showed its weakness because of the software that was no match for other wearable platforms available in the market. But with the second-gen OnePlus Watch expected to run WearOS, not only will people expect more features but also a seamless way of tracking their health readings.
The new version of WearOS has been developed jointly by Google and Samsung, making its debut with the Galaxy Watch 4 series a few years back. Both the tech giants have come together to rival Apple’s dominance in the wearable segment with Watch. Having more brands lap up WearOS gives Google more scope to compete with the platform, at the same time, buyers have more options to choose in the Android sphere as well. If the OnePlus Watch 2 does come out at the MWC 2024 next month, it is likely that the brand will make the product available in the following weeks.
