New Delhi: Technology giant Google has invited amateur filmmakers from India to help create a full-length user-generated movie about daily life in the country.

The project, India in a Day, will be produced by Ridley Scott and Anurag Kashyap and directed by Richie Mehta.

As per the project, Google is asking everyone across India to grab a camera and film their day on October 10. "Show us how you socialise with friends and connect with family; show us your work life and your aspirations; show us what you love and what you worry about," Google said.

"Help us capture how India is rapidly changing: what can you do today that you couldn't five years ago? What do you hope for? What would you like to change or achieve?" Google said the most compelling and distinctive footage will be edited into a documentary film.

Those whose footage make it into the finished film will be credited as a "co-director," getting a chance to feature in the first user-generated feature-length documentary shot in a single day on life in India.

The film is scheduled for release in 2016. It will be directed by Richie Mehta and executive produced by Ridley Scott and Anurag Kashyap. R.Balki, Shekhar Kapur and Zoya Akhtar will serve as creative consultants.
