A police team from the Range IG office in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, has achieved significant success by arresting murder accused Virmaram Jat who had absconded after being released on parole in 2018. Jodhpur Police apprehended the accused at a hotel in Bihar’s Samastipur, near the Nepal border.
According to reports, the accused had been sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder in 2010. Five years ago, he was released on parole from Gudamalani police station in Barmer district and subsequently fled Rajasthan.
The accused had been staying in a luxury hotel in Samastipur under the false identity of ‘Jagaram’. Acting on a tip-off, a police officer booked a room in the same hotel. However, when police inquired if a person Barmer had accompanied him, he confessed and revealed his true identity. The police arrested him on the spot and brought him back under a transit warrant. The police also recovered an Aadhaar card and PAN card under the name ‘Veeramaram’. Accused disclosed that he was planning to leave for Nepal.
Jodhpur police traveled nearly 5,000 kilometers during the operation to arrest the accused. He had been constantly changing his mobile phones and SIM cards to evade capture.
The range IG said, “A dangerous criminal, with a bounty of Rs 50 thousand has been caught. The accused had committed murder in 2010 and absconded in 2018 after being granted parole. He had since been living a luxurious lifestyle, moving between several cities.”
