Google Opens Up Bard For Teenagers; Will Help Them With Projects, Learning Math
Google Bard will be available for teenagers as long as they meet the minimum age requirement for having a Google account in their respective country.

Google Bard has been publicly available until now, but evidently, the Chatbot, which runs on Google Palm 2 LLM, was not available to teenagers. However, starting today, the popular ChatGPT competitor will be available for teenagers as long as they meet the minimum age requirement for having a Google account in their respective country.

Google says that Bard will be a helpful and informational tool for teenagers. They will be able to find inspiration, hobbies, and even get help with writing, finding universities for advanced studies, and learning new sports.

Moreover, Google isn’t shying away from the fact that teenagers will be able to use the tool for their school projects and understanding concepts deeply.

Now, Google will even help them learn mathematics. “For even more interactive learning, we’re bringing a math learning experience into Bard,” Google said. “Anyone, including teens, can simply type or upload a picture of a math equation, and Bard won’t just give the answer—it’ll share step-by-step explanations of how to solve it,” it added.

In addition, teenagers will benefit from another feature in the form of having the ability to visualize data, which will help them generate charts from tables or data included in a prompt.

Google notes these features are going to be available in English, and more features would be added for teenagers for better learning.

A ‘Safer’ Experience For Teens

Google says that it has added multiple safeguards for teenagers. Firstly, Bard has been trained to recognize areas that are inappropriate for younger users. These guardrails will help prevent them from accessing unsafe content, such as illegal or age-gated substances to be part of Bard’s responses.  And, when a teen asks a fact-based question to Google Bard, it will use the double-check feature to search the web for information that supports Bard’s response.

Further, Google has also developed an “onboarding experience” in Bard for teens that features tips on how to use generative AI responsibly.
