The Chinese companies are building AI tools for the market that can easily compete with giants like OpenAI and Google who make their tools available.

ByteDance is going after OpenAI and Google with its new product. The Chinese giant has extended lineup by introducing its video-generating software based on text prompts. With this move, the tech giant joined a rising number of Chinese tech businesses entering an emerging market also targeted by OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT. Joining the bandwagon, ByteDance has launched Jimeng AI, a text-to-video software. The new software, developed by Faceu Technology, is now available on the Apple App Store for Chinese users. Faceu Technology operates under Jianying business of the Byte Dance, which is popularly known for its video editing app CapCut.

Its beta version is accessible worldwide, and users only need an email address for registration.

Moreover, Chinese AI startup Zhipu AI also introduced its video-generating model Ying last month. Days after its launch, another startup named Shengshu officially launched its Vidu app.

It is worth noting that the Jimeng AI offers monthly subscriptions starting at 69 Yuan (Rs 800 approx), 79 yuan (Rs 900 approx) for a single month, or 659 Yuan (Rs 7,700 approx) annually. Each plan allows users to generate about 2,050 images or 168 AI videos per month.
