The Beta program for PlayStation 4's next major software update (version 3.50) launches March 2.

The PS4 update will offer ‘Friend Online Notification' so users can see when their friends come online. It will also feature ‘Appear Offline' for users who don't want to be bothered.

The upgrade will also have a ‘User Schedule Event' so you can plan you next session with friends. Finally, the ‘Play Together' feature will allow members of a party to see what each person is playing so users can easily join the game.

Also in the pipeline is a 'Remote Play' feature for streaming games to a Mac or PC, though this will not be available in the beta test this week.

The release date for the full version of the next PS4 system software update has not yet been shared.
