Hyderabad: Online retail giant Amazon will set up a warehouse centre and start operations from a leased facility in about two months before its own facility is constructed.
A delegation from Amazon, led by global director and head for Real Estate and Facilities John Schoettler, met Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao and discussed the expansion plans, said a press release issued by the state government.
"Amazon has come forward to set up a warehouse fulfillment centre in Hyderabad. Amazon will start their operations from a leased facility in about two months before the own facility is constructed.
"Minister K T Rama Rao assured the delegation that the state government would extend all incentives to the Amazon facility as per the new Industrial Policy," the release said.
Amazon will be training the MSME clusters for utilising the online platforms for boosting their revenues, it said.
The minister requested Amazon to create an online market place for promoting Telangana handicrafts such as Nirmal handicrafts, Pochampalli sarees and Bidri-ware for which the company has responded positively, it added.
