The upcoming Malayalam film Marivillin Gopurangal, featuring Indrajith Sukumaran in the lead role, is scheduled to hit theatres on April 12, coinciding with the festive occasions of Eid and Vishu. Initially slated for release in November last year, the movie’s promotional materials, including posters, teaser and songs, were unveiled over three months ago. Despite this, the producers had not dismissed the possibility of an unforeseen postponement. Subsequently, the film’s makers declared that February 16 would be the highly anticipated big-screen premiere. However, early in the same week, the date underwent alteration. Finally, Marivillin Gopurangal has been officially slated for an April 12 release. The film is scheduled to be released a day after the highly anticipated projects like Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham and Vineeth Sreenivasan’s directorial Varshangalkku Shesham. Vishu 2024 is expected to see the release of several eagerly awaited films, providing movie enthusiasts with an extensive lineup of cinematic treats.

The film is described as a feel-good romantic comedy. Based on the earlier released teaser, the plot revolves around the lives of two couples: Shinto (Indrajith) and Sherin (Shruti), who are married and Meenakshi (Vincy) and Rony (Sarjano), who are in a relationship. Conflict arises between Shinto and Rony when Shinto expresses his reluctance to have children, while Rony desires to have children outside of marriage. The storyline unfolds with the drama that ensues as a result of their differing viewpoints. The title of the film, Marivillin Gopurangal, is inspired by the eponymous song from the 1998 film Summer in Bethlehem, starring Suresh Gopi and Jayaram.

The film was edited by Shaijal PV and the filmmaker himself, with photography by Syamaprakash MS and music composed by Vidyasagar. Koker’s Media Entertainments is the film’s producer.
