New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh, who has been at the centre of the 'dog analogy' controversy, was on Thursday jeered by some Opposition members in Rajya Sabha when he rose to lay the listed papers.

Some Congress MPs booed him when he was called by Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien to lay the papers listed against his name in the day's list of business of the House.

When he was again called to make a statement regarding status of implementation of the recommendations of the Standing Committee, BSP members joined their Congress counterparts to jeer at him. Some of them also shouted "VK Singh Murdabad".

Singh had kicked up a row when he reacted to the killing of two children from a Dalit family reportedly saying if someone throws stones at a dog, why blame the government for it.

The opposition had targeted him over the remarks during the earlier part of the winter session, seeking his resignation.

Singh laid the statement regarding status of implementation of recommendations and observations contained in the 14th report of the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance on Demands for Grants (2015-16) pertaining to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

Singh is also a minister of state for statistics and programme implementation. Order was restored in the House once he sat down after laying the papers.
