Chennai: The condition of Union Science and Technology Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, admitted to a private hospital in Chennai for liver-related ailment, is stable.
Doctors while briefing Deshmukh's family regarding his health said that he is responding to medicines but will be kept under observation for next few days.
The 67-year-old two-time Maharashtra Chief Minister is under the care of noted liver transplant surgeon Dr Mohamed Rela at the hospital.
He was admitted to Global Super Speciality Hospital for a possible liver transplant.
According to the sources, Deshmukh who is ailing for sometime was brought by the special flight around 6 pm on Monday and immediately taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Deshmukh recently underwent medical tests at the Breach Candy hospital in south Mumbai.
