New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav has threatened to cut the Ganga water supply to Delhi, claiming that the dirty and polluted drains from the national capital are polluting the Yamuna. Shivpal Singh Yadav said that Yamuna joins Ganga and its polluted water is creating problems in Uttar Pradesh.
He demanded that the dirty and polluted water should be treated and then only released in the Yamuna. He said UP gives 400 cusecs of water to Delhi and if the state government doesn't stop the release of polluted drain water into Yamuna, then the UP government will cut Delhi's water supply.
He added that UP government has issued a notice to Delhi on February 7, saying that the dirty water should be first treated and then released in the Yamuna river.
According to sources, UP government is upset over Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's statement mentioning Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav in a list of corrupt politicians.
