Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has presented its first budget for the year 2017-18 in the UP Assembly on Tuesday.
The main focus of this budget is overall development of rural and urban areas in sync with each other. This was the first time in six years when a finance minister presented the budget of Uttar Pradesh.
Here are the high points of the budget:
- New schemes worth Rs 55,781 crore
- Estimated revenue in 2017-18 year is Rs. 3,77,000
- Arrangements were made for a budget of Rs 36,000 crores for farmers' loan waiver
- Tax rates on agricultural products were kept zero. Small merchants were also given a waiver in registration. Large-scale businessmen will have to simply register online
- 1227 villages on the banks of Ganga were freed from open defecation. 1000 physicians will be hired by a walk in interview
- Schools and hospitals will be built in the names of martyrs
- Action on slaughterhouses as per the directions of the Supreme Court of India and NGT
- Upgrade Gorakhpur, Basti, Mundirwa sugar mills
- Rs 1 lakh rupees grant on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Rs 800 crore for Ayodhya, Mathura, Kashi for Prasad scheme
- Rs 941.83 crores for scholarship for minority students
- Rs. 3 crores for Ramayana Conclave
