New Delhi: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Monday celebrated the 71st birthday of its chief Lalu Prasad Yadav amid the ongoing ‘rift’ between his sons.
Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav was recently seen in a video accusing Tejashwi of trying to sideline him in the party. However, the brothers later discarded speculations of a split, and claimed it was the work of some anti-social elements.
Using Lalu Yadav's birthday as an opportunity to send out a message that 'all's well' within the party, both Tej Pratap and Tejashwi were seen cutting the mighty 71 pound cake along with their mother Rabri Devi. The party members have made major arrangements for the occasion in Patna.

The RJD youth wing also organized a blood camp on the eve of Yadav’s birthday which was inaugurated by Tejashwi at the Party headquarters in Patna — a practice that has been continuing for three years now.
The party has made a strong comeback after successfully stopping the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in all the recent by-polls conducted in Bihar.
The party has also played a critical role in the formation of ‘mahagathbandhan’ by bringing Congress and Janata Dal United (JD-U) together, proving the possibility of stopping the Modi juggernaut in the Assembly Elections of 2015.
However, this mahagathbandhan did not last for long, as Nitish Kumar changed sides and formed the government with BJP and became the number one nemesis of RJD. Attacks against the NDA government have not stopped ever since. Lalu Prasad’s “palturam" jibe against Nitish Kumar has been the recent and most hilarious one in this battle.
Yadav has been convicted in multiple cases by the Ranchi court in the fodder scam and is currently out on a provisional bail on account of undergoing medical treatment.
