Lucknow: Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday said there was a lot of confusion regarding the timing of Lok Sabha elections, but asserted that whenever the polls were held, his party would emerge victorious. Addressing party workers at SP headquarters in Lucknow, he said there was a possibility of general elections next year, though it was scheduled for 2014.
The SP supremo said the Lok Sabha election was the real test and victory of maximum number of candidates should be ensured to show the party's power in Delhi. He said there was confusion among the ruling and opposition parties, but there was no confusion before SP.
"Let the elections take place any time, SP is prepared," he said. He said the first list of party candidates has already been released so that those having less resources could do campaign without incurring heavy expenses on tour.
Mulayam said candidates would get enough time for their election campaign and management. He called upon workers to concentrate in their areas and make the local electorate aware with the public welfare decisions of the state government, especially those in favour of farmers and weavers.
Mulayam said a decision was taken for free irrigation facility to farmers and loan of weavers up to Rs 50,000 was waived. He said SP's policy was to ensure remunerative price of produce to farmers. He said whenever SP comes to power, cane growers get benefit and in the last SP regime payment of dues of Rs 1,700 crore was ensured.
