New Delhi: Sounding the poll bugle for Delhi Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday revealed Bharatiya Janata Party's plan and listed schemes aimed at wooing the middle class and poor people, but he did not make any major announcements.
From making the national capital a generator free city to giving every family a home, Modi tried to garner support by his Jan Dhan Yojna and a call for a corruption free government.
Modi said, "Efforts are being made to make Delhi generator free, invertor free. The city will get electricity all 24 hours." In line with his 'Make in India' project, Modi said, "Those who will use government made LED bulbs at home, would pay Rs 300 less in their power bill per year."
During the 2013 Delhi poll campaign, Aam Aadmi Party also promised to reduce electricity and water bills and won 28 seats in the 70-member Assembly. Modi's Campaign is aimed at taking away one of AAP's major issue.
Promising to take Delhi to new heights of development, the Prime Minister said people will be given an option of choosing their power service provider on the lines of mobile number portability.
On making Delhi slum free, Modi said, "By 2022, every poor family will have its home. It is a big task which I have undertaken and I need your support." Reaching out to the poor, Modi narrated the success story of his Jan Dhan Yojna. He said, "Doors of banks are now opened for the poor and 10 crore accounts have been opened till January 10. Rs 8,500 crore have been deposited and 19.5 lakh people opened accounts in Delhi alone."
Hitting out at Congress, Modi said, "Their leaders only gave slogans to save their positions. Development is not possible through sloganeering but through hard work and working on minute details."
The Prime Minister did not give a development plan and also did not address key issues of women security, law and order issue.
