Thiruvananthapuram: The Left Democratic Front walked out of Kerala Assembly over the price rise of LPG cylinders. From January 15, the CPI (M) is organising satyagrahas in at least 10 centres each in all the 140 assembly constituencies.
MLA Thomas Issac presented the notice for adjournment motion and said the price rise cannot be justified and the problems associated with linking of Aadhaar cards are not addressed. He alleged that the move by the Central government is to stop the subsidies in a phased manner. The opposition walked out as the Speaker denied permission for the adjournment motion.
Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob said that the problems in the distribution of LPG have been sorted out and now the distribution is back to normal. He added that the time to link Aadhaar with gas connections has been extended up to February 28.
Chief Minister Oomen Chandy said that they have asked the Central government to give six months times to link Aadhaar cards. He added that discussions will be held with petroleum companies to sort out the issues in the delay of distribution of cylinders.
Speaker G Karthikeyan denied permission for adjournment motion on the basis of the explanation given by the Chief Minster.
CPI (M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said that from 15 the satyagrahas will begin in at least 10 centers each in all 140 Assembly constituencies.
