New Delhi: Sahara Chief Subrata Roy on Friday alleged that he was singled out and victimised by SEBI since he had opposed Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's prime ministerial candidature.
Roy said, "I was opposed to the idea of anyone of foreign origin becoming the Prime Minister of India and this I had communicated to the Left parties when they offered support to the first UPA government."
Asked whether he thinks that the UPA chairperson took his opposition personally, Roy stressed that he didn't think so because Sonia Gandhi had always been cordial with him.
However, he also claimed that those around her seem to have taken serious exception to his view than she herself.
Roy's statement came after the SEBI told the Supreme Court that Sahara group overvalued its properties and did not hand over all original title deeds of assets worth Rs 20,000 crore as per its direction.
