Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court has admitted plea against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of breach of poll code conduct during the 2014 general elections. Modi had faced flak for taking a selfie and addressing press conference with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) symbol when he went to vote.

The complainant in the case, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker Nishant Varma had approached the High Court after a lower court rejected his petition on May 11.

Earlier the Election Commission had pulled up Modi and asked the state government to book him. However, the Gujarat crime branch had given him a clean chit.

The Twitter-savvy Modi had posted the photo on micro-blogging website Twitter saying, "Voted! Here is my selfie."

He found himself in yet another controversy for holding up the party symbol. Both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party cried foul saying Modi had violated the model code of conduct.
