Thalapathy Vijay’s decision to quit acting to concentrate on his political career has undeniably disappointed his die-hard fans. One of his many fans who were disheartened was Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju. During a promotional event of her last release, Premalu, she expressed regret at not being able to share screen space with Vijay and had acknowledged being a fan of him since Ghilli. The interview had gone widely viral. And that is probably why the makers of Vijay’s last film have roped in Mamitha to play a pivotal role in the film.
The film, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69, has started its filming phase and Mamitha Baiju has joined in, finally being able to share screen space with Vijay in his last film. She recently shared a pair of photos with Vijay from the shoot, chronicling her ultimate fangirl moment. She captioned the photos with a very simple caption saying, “A moment” but it still speaks volumes.
Many fans, who were aware of the actress’s wish to work opposite Vijay have congratulated her in the comments section to have been able to fulfil her dream. Celebrities like Aishwarya Lekshmi, Anna Ben, Arsha Baiju, Akhila Bhargavan and Matthew Thomas have also commented on the post. Earlier, the makers had also announced Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol being part of the project.
H Vinoth, known for his successful films like Thunivu, Sathuranga Vettai, and Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, is set to collaborate with Vijay for the first time. This partnership has generated excitement among fans, promising a unique cinematic experience. The film will feature a soundtrack by Anirudh Ravichander, whose music has often been a highlight in Tamil cinema.
Referring to rumours that the film may have a political theme, Vinoth has mentioned that the film will be a family entertainer, steering away from political themes. The team plans to release the film in October 2025.
