Goa BJP refuses to be part of delegation to PM on mining ban
According to the Goa government, over a lakh people lost their livelihood after the mining ban.

Panaji: The Goa BJP refused to be part of a Sharad Pawar-led delegation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's office to resolve the state's mining crisis, the BJP state president said on Friday.

Vinay Tendulkar said: "Pawar is exploiting the plight of the thousands affected by the mining ban. There is nothing that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) can do to help them. The case is in court."

Tendulkar added that no Bharatiya Janata Party legislator would be a part of the delegation scheduled to meet Manmohan Singh Feb 18.

"None of our legislators will go unless the prime minister invites them," Tendulkar said.

Mining was banned in Goa four months ago after the Supreme Court announced a probe by a central empowered committee into Goa's alleged illegal mining.

According to the Goa government, over a lakh people lost their livelihood after the mining ban.
