DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE:
This General Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 22.84% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 0.03%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission, 2008. In 2012, Dr Dharampal Singh of BSP emerged victorious in this seat beating Dr Prem Singh Baghel of SP by a margin of 8,504 votes which was 3.6% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BSP had a vote share of 33.9% in the seat.
