New Delhi: Troubles seem to be growing for the Congress, with Uttarakhand state leader Harish Rawat skipping Parliament for the second day in a row. Sources add that new Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna is on his way to Delhi.
Rawat had assured the government and the Congress in writing on Tuesday that he would attend Parliament on Wednesday. However, the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs was conspicous by his absence.
Rawat and his supporters met at Congress MP Pradeep Tamta's residence on Wednesday. Tamta said everything that they had been arguing for was in the open. He said that he had full conviction that Congress President Sonia Gandhi will work things out.
Sources say that top Congress leaders will again try to reach out to Rawat.
A miffed Rawat had resigned as Minister of State when he was ignored for the Uttarakhand CM's post. Rawat said he was hurt that the high command didn't inform him of its decision before appointing Vijay Bahuguna.
Rawat even stayed away from the UPA allies' dinner on Tuesday night.
He said, "I have always had faith in the party. I only wish they could have told me. After all, I have been in the party for more than 40 years."
