Ahmedabad: In a veiled attack on Congress, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that those, "who have been looting the treasury for the last 40-50 years," are now opposing the development works. "Those, who have been looting the treasury for the last 40-50 years for vote bank politics, on what grounds, are now opposing the fund utilisation for development works in the public interest?" Modi asked.
He was speaking at the 24th daylong Sadhbhavana fast at Himmatnagar as part of the 'Sadhbhavana Mission'. Addressing a gathering, Modi said that the goodwill of six crore Gujaratis has provided stability to the state.
"An environment of stability and Sadhbhavana prevaling in the state for the last ten years has helped establish a new political culture," Modi said, adding that it has also set new benchmarks for those indulging in the vote bank politics.
"By adopting the mantra 'Sauno Saath Sauno Vikas' (all together, growth for all), we have shown how development is done, and Gujarat's exemplary development model has been adopted by the nation," Modi said.
On the occasion, Modi announced a grant of Rs 2,380 crore for development projects in Sabarkantha district. He said that the government has given an in-principle approval to a Rs 225 crore project for developing a medical college-cum-hospital complex in Himmatnagar.
Modi also announced a slew of projects, aiming to bring the district on state and global tourism map.
