Cong leaders insulted Ambedkar: BJP
BJP leaders have criticised MP Congress leaders for garlanding the statue of B R Ambedkar while wearing footwear.

New Delhi: First the furore was regarding a string of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar statutes that were desecrated. However, now BJP leaders have criticised Madhya Pradesh Congress President Subhash Yadav and Union Minister of State Kantilal Bhuria for garlanding the statue of Ambedkar while wearing footwear.

News agency PTI quoted BJP President Narendra Singh Tomar and PWD Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya as saying in a statement in Indore that they demanded an apology from the Congress party for insulting a great man as well as the country.

The BJP said that the Congress' sympathy towards 'Dalits' and the poor was just a farce and just an effort to gather votes.

However, State Congress Spokesperson K K Mishra denied the allegations.

He was quoted as saying that the BJP was levelling baseless allegations against it for political mileage, as it was frustrated over the failure of 'mahakumbh' and wanted to divert people's attention.

The district Congress on Saturday released pamphlets containing excerpts from BJP leader and former Union Minister Arun Shourie's book Worshipping False Gods containing objectionable remarks about Dr Ambedkar.

PTI quoted District Congress President Pramod Tandon as saying that this exposed the dual character of the BJP.
