New Delhi: Attacking Sheila Dikshit for calling him an "outsider", BJP candidate for New Delhi constituency Vijender Gupta on Saturday said he is a 'Dilliwala' but can the Chief Minister clarify from where she belongs to.
The former BJP President, who is pitched against Dikshit and AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal from the constituency, said in her earlier years in politics Dikshit had contested three elections from Kannuaj in Uttar Pradesh and one from East
Delhi.
"She had lost three times from Kannauj and once from East Delhi constituency. Now, who is an outsider? She should clarify from where she belongs to? I am very well a Dilliwala," Gupta said.
Taking a dig at Dikshit and Kejriwal, he said someone has come from Ghaziabad and some from Kannuaj to contest elections in this constituency.
Attacking Dikshit over prelimiary enquiry by CBI in an alleged scam in Delhi Jal Board (DJB), he said, "We had been saying this for years that it was an scam due to which cost of water has increased over 1,800 per cent from Rs 2 per Kilolitre to Rs 49 per Kilolitre, if not checked then the price may go up to Rs 100 per Kilolitre."
He demanded Dikshit's "immediate removal" for the alleged DJB scam and said "it is an irony that the residents of New Delhi constituency are facing acute water shortage despite the fact that their MLA is the Chief Minister and also the head of DJB."
"People of the constituency are saying that they have elected their Chief Minister thrice but could not get an MLA.
Now we will elect an MLA and remove the Chief Minister," Gupta said.
