New Delhi: With just a month left for the Assembly elections, political temperature is rising in Gujarat. The war of words between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has escalated after the Gujarat Congress President Arjun Modvadia called Chief Minister Narendra Modi a monkey. The BJP on Friday hit back at the Congress, saying that the Congress's insecurities were at work behind all such below-the-belt attacks.
BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said that the Congress was using foul language and had crossed the limits of decency. "Calling Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi a monkey is crossing the line of decency. The people of Gujarat will give a befitting reply in the upcoming Assembly polls," said Javadekar.
Modvadia, who is the Congress face in Gujarat, without taking Modi’s name had on Thursday said that some people had been bitten by dogs and keep on taking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s name at regular intervals. He said such people were dreaming of becoming the prime minister of the country.
Modvadia went on to equate Manmohan Singh with a lion and said that a monkey sitting on the top of a tree was trying to challenge the lion while speaking at a rally on Tuesday in Junagarh.
He went on to say that a Nobel Prize for telling lies should be constituted and given to Modi. He claimed that Modi had announced packages worth crores for Gujarat but it had not been mentioned in the state budget.
