New Delhi: Following the Supreme Court ruling on Ramlila Maidan crackdown case, in which the apex court pulled up yoga guru Baba Ramdev and the Delhi Police, Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari has defended the Government saying that the verdict has not made any comment on the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Hitting out at the BJP, after the party said it does not accept that Ramdev is also responsible for the violent incident, Tiwari said that the BJP is disrespecting the Supreme Court when it says it does not agree with the decision.
The Congress spokesperson also said that the BJP is free to challenge the apex court's decision.
"If the BJP does not agree with the Supreme Court's decision they can challenge the decision. Why the BJP does not file a review petition?" said Tiwari.
Expressing the Congress's view on the Supreme Court's decision, Tiwari said, "Whatever decision the Supreme Court takes, the party doesn't comment".
The Congress spokesperson further said, "The BJP has the habit of giving comments on every issue. Today's verdict hasn't commented on Home Ministry or the Government. If the BJP disagrees with Supreme Court's decision, they are free to challenge it. The larger question is the kind of reverence the BJP has for constitutional institutions. The BJP has been assailing the Congress for disrespecting institutions...now the BJP is doing it. So, who is disrespecting institutions then?"
