Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi faced some embarrassing moments at Bengaluru's Mt Carmel College on Wednesday afternoon when students did not agree with his views on "Swachh Bharat" campaign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While addressing the students Rahul asked them if Modi's "Swachh Bharat" campaign was working and much to his surprise an overwhelming majority of them replied that it was a success.
He asked the students if they do saw a clean India because of "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" and the response was a resounding yes, leaving the Congress MP from Amethi stumped. He quickly countered them by saying "you may see so but I don't".
The students also endorsed Modi's Make in India campaign forcing Rahul on the back foot. He was left completely speechless by the vociferous endorsement of Modi's two pet schemes by the young girls of the college.
Continuing his offensive against the Centre, Rahul Gandhi said that corruption in the Narendra Modi government would be out in the open very soon.
“Forty people have been murdered in Madhya Pradesh in Vyapam scam, Lalit Modi being helped...absolutely, corruption has to be removed," he said.
According to the Congress leader, while the government is spending money on social schemes, the expenditure for the poor is being slashed.
Criticising the ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of the Narendra Modi government, he said, “I hear a talk of 'Clean our Country'. Are we serious? Do you see it working? I don't".
