New Delhi: Holding that Aam Aadmi Party prima facie violated the Model Code of Conduct by allegedly using the photo of BJP's CM nominee Kiran Bedi without her permission in its campaign, Election Commission on Saturday issued a show-cause notice to its national secretary Pankaj Gupta asking why action should not be taken against him.
Delhi Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO)office asked Gupta to explain his stand by 6 pm on February 2 failing which the poll panel will take action.
The CEO office has issued the notice on a complaint filed by Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay who accused AAP of using Bedi's photograph without her permission in its election campaign and calling her "Awsarvadi" (opportunist).
"Poll Panel has asked Gupta to file his reply by 6 PM on February 2," a senior official said. Meanwhile, a total number of 1,763 hoardings were removed from public property and 138 FIR's have been lodged till yesterday in this regard.
