New Delhi: In yet another instance of high handedness by politicians, bills of 27 sitting Lok Sabha MPs have not been approved by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
According to a report in the Indian Express, MPs chose to stay in a hotel despite having been allotted government accommodation. The MPs overstayed at Delhi's Ashok Hotel and the bill is worth Rs 5.69 crore.
Bharatiya Janata Party ally Lok Jan Shakti Party MP Rama Kishore Singh tops the list with an outstanding bill of Rs 10.34 lakhs. Minister of State for Agriculture Mohanji Kalyanjibhai Kundariya has an outstanding bill of Rs 5.76 lakh.
Kundariya is followed by BJP MP and Union Minister Babul Supriyo with an outstanding bill of Rs 4.57 lakh and then by Minister of State for External Affairs General VK Singh whose bill amounts Rs 3.74 lakh.
Minister of State for Tourism Mahesh Sharma denied staying in Ashok Hotel after taking the charge. "I have not stayed in Ashok hotel for even a single day after becoming the minister. There must have been some discrepancy."
