UGC Launches WhatsApp Channel for Real-Time Updates on Higher Education

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently launched the ‘UGC India WhatsApp Channel’ to keep the students, teachers and stakeholders updated about the latest important news related to higher education in India. Through this channel, UGC will provide timely updates related to educational reforms, examinations, scholarships etc., to the students, teachers and stakeholders. It is important to note that the launch of the channel marks a crucial step towards democratising access to significant information in the realm of higher education. As per the reports by Times Now, UGC Chairman, Professor M Jagadesh Kumar said, “The launch of the UGC India WhatsApp Channel is a significant step towards fostering a more inclusive and informed higher education landscape.”

“By embracing technology and utilising a widely-used platform, the University Grants Commission is modernising its communication strategy and enabling stakeholders to navigate the information on higher education in real-time,” he continued. This effort establishes a precedent for using digital tools to improve the transparency, accessibility, and effectiveness of educational governance.

In a statement about inclusivity, the commission said that the WhatsApp Channel is a potent instrument for reaching a wider audience because it is understood that not everyone may have easy access to University Grants Commission (UGC) websites or other social media handles. Step 2: Scroll below and students will be able to find the Channel section

Step 3: Search for “Find Channels” and click on it

Step 4: Type UGC India and press the ‘Follow’ button

Step 5: Once done, you will be able to access the latest important news related to higher education in India
