The Pakistan Army has deliberately created the refugee crisis with Afghanistan Taliban to pressure them into allowing the use of border areas to train terrorists and eventually send them to India, according to top intel sources.
The Pakistan government had ordered that all Afghani nationals living in Pakistan illegally must leave the country by November 1, an order the Taliban government had called “inhuman" and “amounting to harassment". So far, 2.5 lakh illegal refugees have been sent back, while 1.4 lakh have been registered. Pakistan will now start a ‘swift search and hunt’ for the remaining refugees and a long-term plan to deal with the issue six months later, said sources.
Meanwhile, 2.5 lakh people amount to approximately 50,000 families, which the Afghan Taliban will be forced to feed and shelter, despite its lack of resources, in turn, adding to the pressure on the West, said sources.
The Taliban has sent feelers to Pakistan, seeking time and cooperation. However, as Pakistan will get aid against registered refugees, as per the norms, it is trying to boost the numbers, amid its own financial crisis, added sources.
PAK ARMY’s ANTI-INDIA STRATEGY: ONE BORDER PEACEFUL, USE OF LoC FOR TERROR
CNN-News18 has accessed exclusive details on the strategy of Pakistan Army from top intel sources:
- They want a deal from Afghanistan after sending this first batch of 2.5 lakh refugees. They are seeking access to the complete stretch of Durand Line – Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
- They want terrorist training camps to be set up on the Durand line towards Afghanistan, making it fertile for their activities towards Eastern borders such as Line of Control (LoC) with India. Once trained, the terrorists can enter India for terror activities and also smuggle cheap drugs at inflated prices into India.
- The training camps will also ensure that the Afghanistan border remains peaceful. The Pakistan Army can’t afford a two-border war and hence wants one border to be relaxed.
According to top intelligence sources, Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad are running terror camps in Nangarhar Province in Afghanistan. “We are faithful that Taliban will not take any such decision and as they claim, they will not allow their soil to be used for any terror activity," said sources.
