The family of an Indian student, who died in Italy, is seeking the government’s help to bring his body back. The student belonged to Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district.
According to reports, Ram Raut died on January 2. He was studying MBA in Italy and living in a rented accommodation. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
Police said the incident came to light when Ram’s parents called to wish him on New Year’s. But, he did not take their call. Concerned, they called the owner of his accommodation who informed them that Ram was found dead for unknown reasons inside the bathroom of another house.
Ram’s family then sought the help of Jharkhand’s senior government officials and public representatives to bring his body back to India.
In a report published by India Today, West Singhbhum’s deputy commissioner Ananya Mittal said he had received news about the student’s death and informed the home department as well as the migration cell of the state. He said he is monitoring the situation and is also in touch with the family.
