Karni Sena chief murder: Police sources say Virendra Charan was in jail with one of the shooters, Rohit Rathore. Charan is reportedly part of Rohit Godara’s gang in Rajasthan. Godara, who has alleged links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, had claimed responsibility for Gogamedi's murder in a Facebook post

Virendra Charan, the most wanted criminal in Bikaner who is currently absconding, assigned the task of killing Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi to the two shooters, according to police sources.

The Delhi Police’s crime branch has arrested three men – shooters Nitin Fauji and Rohit Rathore and an aide Udham – in the case. Rohit Rathore is a resident of Rajasthan’s Nagaur, while Nitin Fauji is from Haryana’s Mahendragarh. Earlier on Saturday, the police arrested Ramveer, who allegedly helped the shooters – Nitin and Rathore – flee the spot on his bike after the murder and dropped them off at Ajmer Road.

Charan is reportedly part of Rohit Godara’s gang in Rajasthan. Godara, who has alleged links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, had claimed responsibility for Gogamedi’s murder in a Facebook post.

According to sources, Nitin was on leave from the Army. “He had a scuffle in Mahenderagarh and a kidnapping had happened there. They assaulted the local police. He thought now that he is absconder from the Army, he would leave the country," said sources.

Rohit Rathore, meanwhile, was in jail with Charan. “He was nursing a grudge against Gogamedi as he had got a rape case registered against him. Charan exploited that and lured him to commit the murder," alleged sources.

Rathore was told that he will get another shooter to assist him and will be sent abroad after the incident, said sources.

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead while he was sipping tea with four men in the living room of his Jaipur home around noon on December 5. Gogamedi was cremated on Thursday in his native village in Hanumangarh district. His death led to several protests in parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
