Union minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday praised his cabinet colleague and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and called him a “rockstar”. Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in Delhi, Goyal said he was a “fan” of Jaishankar as he “made India proud across the world”.
“S Jaishankar is my senior colleague. He is also a close friend of mine. I am a big fan of his…He is a rockstar. He has truly made India proud, across the world. There won’t be a person in the country that doesn’t appreciate Jaishankar, who is furthering India’s interests globally under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Goyal was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Goyal also appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he ensures there is no discrimination in the implementation of government projects and schemes.
“PM Modi monitors the progress of schemes and ensures there is no discrimination on the basis of religion, gender, state… not even on the basis of those who voted for the BJP or Congress…A country like India whose young population is ready to work hard will create demand in the world,” he said.
This is not the first time when Goyal has heaped praises on Jaishankar. In March this year, Goyal, while speaking at Network18’s Rising India Summit 2023, addressed Jaishankar as a “Rockstar”.
Greeting each other with smiles while holding each other’s hands, Goyal told Jaishankar, “…You are a Rockstar, boss. Hum aapko follow karenge (we will follow you).”
