70,000 Virat Kohli Masks, Cake, Gift and a Laser Show: How Eden Gardens Plans to Celebrate Batting Superstar's Birthday
India will play South Africa in a 2023 ODI World Cup match on what will also be Virat Kohli's birthday.

Virat Kohli is set to turn 35 this November 5, a day which also coincides when two of the top teams of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 India and South Africa will square off at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.

To celebrate Kohli’s birthday, a modern-day batting great, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) reportedly has made some big plans including distributing 70,000 masks of the India superstar among the fans who will be present at the venue for the contest.

According to a report in Revsportz, the Cricket Association of Bengal has planned a special gift for Kohli besides a fireworks show during the innings break.

“We have ordered a cake for Virat, and the design will be something everyone identifies with Virat Kohli. I am not sharing the pictures yet, for let that be a surprise,” CAB president Snehasish Ganguly was quoted as saying by the publication.

“…we plan to host a fireworks show during the mid-innings interval for Virat and the crowd. It will be our way of celebrating his birthday, and our way of saying that the entire Kolkata crowd are part of the celebrations. We are sure of a full house and everyone in the stands is a Virat fan. It is a gesture on behalf of all of them,” he added.

Kohli has been in fine form having scored a century and three half-centuries in six innings so far at the world cup 2023.

The former India captain is just one century away from drawing level with Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record of 49 ODI hundreds.

India have been performing as a well-oiled unit and their campaign continues unchallenged despite an injury to star allrounder Hardik Pandya who is now expected to return around the time of the semifinals.

Rohit Sharma has been in stunning form while the middle-order has backed up the starts the openers have given. Icing on the cake has been the way India bowlers, especially the pacers have performed with the demolition job of defending champions England in Lucknow their latest exploit.

India next take on Sri Lanka on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium.
