Shilpa Shetty's Son Broke Down After Raj Kundra Spent 47th Birthday in Jail: 'Chaadar Lekar Rona...'

Raj Kundra has opened up about what his actress-wife Shilpa Shetty and their kids went through when he was in jail in connection with a pornography case in late 2021. He recalled how his son Viaan had an emotional breakdown when the actor-businessman had to spend his 47th birthday in jail.

“Viaan asked what’s happening, so Shilpa told him ‘there are hundreds of questions dad has to answer. Once he does, he will be back…’ Viaan was 10. Shilpa spoke to someone at his school, god knows what parents were telling their children. He is a rock solid kid. He would draw something and send it to me with a letter in jail. He would write ‘papa missing you, come back soon, finish your work,'” Raj told Hindustan Times in an interview.

He continued, “The first two-three weeks he (Viaan) was fine. Then on my birthday, September 9, 2021, I heard a choke in his voice, and he broke down. I remember sobbing. Aur jail aisi jagah hai the moment you let your guard down, they make fun and take advantage of you. Chaadar leke rona padta hai (One cries under a bedsheet). For Viaan, I am his hero. Viaan knew his dad’s company was on his name, I would do no wrong. For him, it’s like a bad dream.”

Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty got married in 2009. They have two kids together–Viaan and Samisha.

Raj Kundra was arrested in July 2021 in connection with alleged creation and uploading of pornographic films on mobile applications. He was granted bail after almost two months.

Later in 2022, Kundra wrote to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) claiming that he was innocent and it was all ‘personal vendetta’ of a businessman who connived with police officers to get him arrested. Kundra had also requested the central agency to probe the case and had further claimed that he was framed by the senior officers of the Mumbai Crime Branch.
