Good news for horror movie fans. After a 13 year wait, the makers of Final Destination series have officially started filming for the sixth instalment. Although details about the film, like cast and plot, are being kept under wraps, producer Craig Perry and cinematographer Christian Sebalt confirmed the exciting news on social media. Perry even spilled the beans on the title, Final Destination: Bloodlines. The franchise, known for its gruesome survival horror, first hit the screens in 2000, gave us edge of the seat survival horror experience. Whether it’s a plane crash, roller-coaster mishap, highway pileup or a tanning bed accident, each film follows a group of individuals trying to escape death, only to find it chasing them in gruesome ways. The series is known for exploring the consequences of avoiding death and fans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming film.
Sharing the news, Perry wrote, “After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first instalment in the franchise. To honour the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing. I’m wholly grateful for the opportunity and humbly appreciate the sublimely talented team that has worked so hard to bring this to life. See you next year. PS: I know, I know, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we’ve had for three years and we’re keeping it, for now.”

Although there’s no update about the story, last year, Final Destination series creator Jeffrey Reddick told Collider, “This film doesn’t just kind of add another layer. Usually there’s a new layer in every film where it’s like, ‘Oh, well, this can save you or this can save you.’ This film dives into the film in such a unique way that it attacks it from a different angle so you don’t feel like, ‘Oh, there’s an amazing setup and then there’s gonna be one wrinkle that can potentially save you all that you have to kind of make a moral choice about or do to solve it’.”
The upcoming sixth movie might have a unique twist, as according to earlier reports from Bloody Disgusting, the film is set to bring back series veteran Tony Todd, who played William Bludworth in the original, Final Destination 2 and 5. This movie might delve into Bludworth’s backstory and more about his connection with death.
Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B Stein, Final Destination: Bloodlines has Guy Busick, the writer behind Scream 5 and the producer Jon Watts, known for Spider-Man: No Way Home. As of now, there’s no official release date announced yet.
