Evan Ellingson who was notably known for his role in the 2009-released film My Sister’s Keeper has passed away. He died at 35 after remaining absent on the big screen for over a decade. According to a report by TMZ, Evan Ellingson was found dead at his San Bernardino County residence in California. He reportedly died in his bedroom on Sunday, November 5. The exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear but officials allege no foul play was involved. The news of the passing was confirmed by Evan’s father Michael Ellingson who told TMZ about the youngster’s struggle with addiction.
Michael Ellingson claimed that his son was sober for three years and on a path to recovery. The news of his death comes as a massive shock to the family. It is suggested Evan relapsed recently after being prescribed opioids after a dental procedure. “Evan was three years sober and often shared his journey of recovery through speaking engagements and ministry. He was passionate about pointing individuals to resources for help and only recently relapsed after being prescribed opioids following a dental procedure,” said the actor’s family in a statement, as per NBC News.
The Ellingson family and Evan’s close friends and relatives are currently grieving his loss. The family added they, “cherish every moment of joy, laughter and love that he brought to us and so many others.”
One of Evan’s most notable roles remains to be Jesse Fitzgerald, a dyslexic patient in director Nick Cassavetes’ cancer drama movie My Sister’s Keeper. The film revolved around a young girl seeking medical emancipation from her parents and also starred the likes of Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin, Abigail Breslin, and Jason Patrick in pivotal roles.
Evan also appeared in 18 episodes of the American show CSI: Miami between 2007 to 2010. The show narrated the story of an ex-homicide cop, who used his skills to solve complex crimes in Miami, and featured David Caruso, Emily Procter, and Adam Rodriguez in the lead. Evan Ellingson played the role of David Caruso’s son Kyle. Additionally, he also appeared in Clint Eastwood’s 2006 film Letters from Iwo Jima.
