Announcer-turned-broadcaster Park Ji-Yoon and her husband Choi Dong-seok have made the decision to part ways after 14 years of marriage. Reports indicate that the couple appeared in divorce court to officially submit their papers. Park’s agency, JDB Entertainment, has acknowledged the news and issued a brief statement confirming the divorce and court proceedings. In their statement, the label stated, “It is right that Park Ji Yoon has chosen to get divorced. We will reveal more in a later statement.”
As reported by All K-Pop, Park’s agency has officially confirmed that she has taken the step to initiate the divorce mediation process by submitting an application to the Jeju District Court. In a statement, she expressed her regret for having to share this unfortunate news with those who have supported her family throughout the years. She further elaborated, saying, “After a long period of contemplation, I have decided to go through the mediation process for divorce with Mr Choi Dong-seok. I apologize for the news becoming public before a peaceful resolution is reached, but I hope that we can support each other as parents for our children in our respective places.”
In her statement, Park Ji Yoon conveyed her determination to shield her children from unfounded rumours and misinformation that could potentially harm their identities. She assured her dedication to addressing any such speculations and erroneous information that might impact both her and her two children. Acknowledging the hardships of the situation, she expressed the difficulty of making this announcement publicly and offered her apologies for not being able to share more positive news during this challenging period.
“In the future, I will repay with better activities as a broadcaster and pour more love and effort as the mother of my two children,” she concluded.
Park Ji-Yoon and Choi Dong-seok’s journey began in 2004 when they both started their careers as announcers at KBS. After dating for four years, they took the decision to get married in November 2009. They were later blessed with two children, a son and a daughter.
Meanwhile, Park started her career as a KBS announcer before she became a freelancer in 2008. She remains actively involved in broadcasting and has made appearances on various shows, including Ssuljeon, Crime Scene and Girl’s Gochuri Class. On the other hand, Choi had been KBS’ primary news anchor for a long time before he ended his tenure with the company in 2021. He also wrote a book titled, When Words Become Power.
