Sunny Leone has certainly made her mark in Bollywood, but the ‘adult film star’ tag from her past still lingers. In a recent chat with Galatta India, Sunny opened up about how problematic she finds this label. When asked about her early struggles in the industry, she didn’t hold back, addressing the judgment she faced due to her previous career in the adult film industry.
When asked about her early struggles in Bollywood, where she was judged for her past in the adult film industry, Sunny said it was expected back then, but it’s frustrating that people are still talking about it after 13 years. “I think that in my initial time being here in India, it is expected of the certain words or tag people use for you. That is completely normal. I think it’s more bothersome now that we are still talking about it. Come on! It’s been 13 years now since I have been here. If you don’t let it go, how do we all move forward? So, it is high time. It is not a conversation piece which is interesting anymore. It’s something you know has happened in my life. We all have done a lot of work and grown in our own ways. I think it’s odd now that a publication uses it for traction,” she said.
Sunny rose to fame with Bigg Boss 5. Subsequently, she transitioned into acting and landed a lead role in Jism 2. It was followed by a number of other well known films that include Ragini MMS , Jackpot, Shootout at Wadala, Ek Paheli Leela, Kuch Kuch Locha Hai, Mastizaade, One Night Stand, Raees and more. Before stepping in the entertainment industry, Sunny worked at a German Bakery for a year and later at a tax and retirement firm. While working these, Sunny did a photoshoot for Penthouse Magazine, marking her entry into the adult entertainment industry.
